My object is pierogies. Pierogi, pronounced (pi-ROH-ghee), also known as varenyky, are filled dumplings of Central and Eastern European origin.[They are made by wrapping pockets of unleavened dough around a savory or sweet filling and cooking them in boiling water. They are from Poland. My father is part Polish. My father is proud of his Polish heritage and shows his pride with what he cooks at home. He wants me to grow up proud of being part Polish.  Pierogies are also a Russian dish, but they originated from Poland. Pierogi are often semicircular, but triangular and rectangular ones are also found. Typical fillings include potato, sauerkraut, ground meat, cheese, and fruits. The dumplings, which is a way there are often described.  They may be served with a topping, such as melted butter, sour cream, or fried onion, or combinations of those ingredients.
