Borscht
My object for the Tenement Museum is a recipe called Borscht. Borsch or borscht is a type of soup. It is a recipe popular in Ukraine. Borsch is in a few countries like Ukraine,Poland,Russia, and Romania plus a few others. Borscht is a sour type of soup it needs to have a lot of beetroot which makes the soup turn red. My grandmother love to make Borscht whenever I come to visit. My Grandmother first made borscht on my first month in America. For a second I thought to myself this soup tastes so great. First I wanted to make Borscht. But then I saw all the stuff you need I said “too much work”. You need a lot of patience to make this soup. My grandmother sometimes cooks borscht with me. It took a while to get everything right. The soup taste so good that everyone in my family can’t wait to eat it. These are all the ingredients you need to cook borscht 2 large or 3 medium beets thoroughly washed, 2 large or 3 medium potatoes sliced into bite-sized pieces, 4 tablespoons of cooking oil, 1 medium onion finely chopped, 2 carrots grated, ½ of head of a cabbage thinly chopped, 1 can of kidney beans with their juice, 2 bay leaves, 10 cups of water, 6 cups of chicken broth, 5 tablespoons of ketchup, 4 tablespoons of lemon juice, ¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper, and 1 tablespoon of chopped dill. Those are all the ingredients.
