Old Pocket Knife
My object is an old pocket knife that my great grandfather gave to me. It is almost 70 years old and it has never been sharpened. It is red and black, has a smooth surface, and is made out of metal. The three knives on it are rusty, but they are still sharp!
This object is important to me because this knife had been used a lot by my great grandfather which just makes it kind of special. Also, this knife represents that I am growing up and I am getting old enough for useful things that could, if I use them wrong, hurt me. This is the first ever item my great grandfather gave to me that can be useful or dangerous. Even though this knife meant something to him, he still gave it to me because he knew it would one day mean as much to me as it did to him.
This object connects to my identity because my great grandfather and I have always had a special connection, even when he lived in Wisconsin. I remember I used to always sit on his lap and he read little picture books to me which was a happy time for me. Another reason it connects to my identity is because I always try my best to work as hard as I can. The connection is that knives can help you get hard work done, so that’s the connection between this knife and me.
