Gnome

In Fun

My object is a Gnome. This Gnome is from the Scandinavian countries which are Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark in Europe. My great grandmother brought this Gnome with her, because she’s from Norway. The Gnome is another version of Santa claus in Scandinavian countries. A Gnome could be the whole body or just the head. It could also either be soft or hard. The Gnome has a white beard and a tall hat. It also has light colors all over. Gnomes can be made of a variety of different materials like cotton, metal, plastic or glass. The Gnome is very popular in Scandinavian countries.I chose this object because the Gnome helps people in Scandinavian countries by giving them good luck when needed, and they are very important to the people living there so it is important to me to. The Gnome teaches that people from my culture believe in certain things, like Gnomes giving good luck. My great-grandfather, Einar, is connected to this Gnome because in 1920, when he came to America, he settled in New york and used this very Gnome. He used this Gnome to keep him calm when he was nervous and to give him good luck. Lastly, this Gnome is important to me and I’m glad I had the opportunity to share its story.
