Ellis Island Documents
My objects are 2 pictures from Ellis Island. My first picture is of my great cousins that immigrated from Italy to America. The second picture is the ticket my cousins used to get on the ship. The tickets had the name of my cousins and other passengers. It had the name and the age of the people that are going aboard the ship. These pictures are from my cousins moving from Italy to New York City, Ellis Island in 1945. I use to remember every cousin that I never got to meet. The reason why I decided to pick these pictures is that it’s a family picture. The reasons why they moved from Italy is that they wanted to find work. In Italy they don't have that many job opportunities. They decide to move to America because they had heard that it was the land of dreams and opportunity. These pictures mean so much to me because, it makes me feel happy. I know that I have cousins that I can learn so much from. I also thank my family ancestors that made the trip to America. I know that they were afraid and scared, but because of them I can call myself Italian-American.
