Wooden Haitian Figure

My object is a statue that says Haiti written in wood. On one side it is decorated with a palm tree. Palms trees are important to our culture in Haiti because of its location near the equator.
Wood is easy to get in Haiti. It is inexpensive and often made into small decorations and souvenirs. Haiti is a fairly poor country. Workers rely on this cheap material to sell. In my country there are many wood workers.
Haiti also relies on palm trees for food. Palm trees grow coconuts.
I have this statue because it reminds me about Haiti and the culture of my family.
