Walking Stick
Walking Stick/shelleigh
My object is a shelleigh. It came from Ireland and it can be used as a weapon as well. The taller ones were used only as walking sticks. The one I have is made of dark oak. They are hollowed out and filled with lead. People would fight over territory or if they got into an arguments. These walking sticks came in handy during that time.
I chose this object because it is important to my family. I never been to Ireland and neither have my parents, but they have lots of Irish pride. We celebrate religious holidays, such as St. Patrick’s. My family makes a lot of Irish food such as mashed potatoes, soda bread, and corned beef and cabbage.
