The Dragon and the Card
I have two objects from my family that I would like to introduce you to these in this essay. One is a statue of a dragon and the other one is a card. The statue which is the dragon is from Poland. In Polish it is called “smoke.” The card is also from Poland. The card says, “Wesolych Swiat.” In English it means, “Merry Christmas.” However, the writing on the card is in Polish language. My mom arrived in America in year 2000. She went back to Poland in 2008 and came back to America with these two objects. My mom has had these objects for 8 years! These two objects are connected to my mom because she brought them from Poland. The three reason why I chose these objects are because: The objects have a lot of memories for my mom It reminds her of her family in PolandIt also reminds her of the fun time she had in Poland The card has a special place in our family because it is something everyone uses to send good wishes during Christmas. For example, the card is sent to all family members. The statue has a lot of memories as well. These objects are important to my immigrant story because they relate to how my mom thinks about the time she spent in Poland when she was growing up there. These objects may look simple, but they are very special and priceless to my mother and to me as well.
