Quran

Relationship: Child of im/migrant

My object is a Quran. My dad brought it with him from Yemen when he immigrated. The Quran is used to read the text. The Quran is similar to a Bible. When you read it it will give you direction and inspiration. You feel safe when you read the Quran. Also the book keeps me close to my family. Reading the Quran is a tradition in our family. My family has had this Quran for about 29 years! The Quran is shaped like a book. This book has 700 or 800 pages. Another feature the Quran has is that it is written in my language which is Arabic. My dad loves the Quran that he brought with him when he immigrated from his country. My dad always tells me the following about this sacred book, “It deals with all the subjects which concern human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, transactions, law, etc., but it also has the basic theme about the relationship between God and his creatures. At the same time, it provides guidelines and has details for a just society, and a lot more….” Some of this information I try to figure out on my own. The words sound wonderful when my Dad says them to me. I know my Dad feels proud when he shares his thoughts with me about this object. I am glad my Dad and I share special moments together.
