Passport from El Salvador
My artifact is my mother’s passport that she ‘s received when she was 2 years old. In the passport picture she is being held by her father. The passport is from El Salvador, and she kept it for 40 years. Though my mother left El Salvador when she was a baby she still has great love for her country of birth. It is special to my family because it reminds my mom of her first time on a plane. It also tells her that that was her best decision in her life. You can learn that a passport needs your nationality, your date and place of birth, your civil status, your birthmarks or scars. However, it is deeper than that. This passport represents my mother’s journey to America from El Salvador full hope for a better life.
