Orange Cake
My object is a recipe for baking orange cake. My mom is from Jamaica and she got it in 1979 from her mother. I chose this object because this recipe is an important symbol that represented her relationship with her mother. She often times tells me that whenever she is upset about something my grandma would bake this cake for her. It never fails to cheer her up.One reason I chose this object is because this object is an important part of my family. The other reason I chose this object is because I get to see how many memories my mom has of her life back home in Jamaica. Another reason, but very important one is how baking this cake always cheers my mother. Back home, my grandma would make it twice a week. Over here, my mother doesn’t get to make it that many times. When I eat the cake, I am beginning to feel the same way as my mother does. It reminds me of my grandma, as well, because she’s the reason we came to America. She wanted us to have a better life in this country.Ingredients:4 ¼ oz of butter 2. 2 eggs 4 ¼ cups of self rising flour1 tsp of baking powderJuice from one orangeJuice from one lemonZest from 1 orange, finely grated Directions:Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F.Mash the butter wellAdd the sugar and the two eggs mixing togetherAdd all the dry ingredients and mix well.Pour into a greased dish Make a layer of chocolate on the top
