ש Necklace
Over the summer I got this necklace. My mom went to Israel with a group of friends while me and the rest of my family flied through Canada to get to Greece. My mom met us there. When all of us were settled at the hotel, she gave all of us gifts from Israel. She got my sister a ל necklace (the starting letter of her hebrew name) and a green hamsa bracelet. A hamsa is a symbol in the Jewish religion that means protection.
Next was my brother. He got three kippot. A kippah is something to cover your head when you walk into a Synagogue. In the jewish religion there are three different types of Jews. Some are very religious, some are not as much, and some are in the middle. Where I go to Synagogue the males are required to wear kippot. For the females, it is optional. My brother got three different types of kippot, all decorated with things he like. He got a Boston Celtics kippot, A Boston Red Sox kepot, and a Basketball Kippot.
Next was me. I was very excited when it was my turn. My first gift was a purple hamsa necklace. The hamsa is silver and the bracelet is made out of leather. The next gift I got was the ש Necklace. This necklace has a silver chain with the starting letter of my hebrew name on it. The ש on the necklace is decorated with swirls.
