My Violin
My violin came from a place called Ellsworth Music. I really loved getting there before my lessons, so I could check out the violins. I loved looking at violins and testing them and when it was time to get a new violin I would go crazy. Sometimes I would beg my parents to give me a break from practicing. They would always say no. After I moved I found out about the strings program and my years of practicing really came in handy. My first try to get into an after school violin group failed. My parents said that they wanted me to try again so that summer they made me take my violin. Every day that summer they made me practice. I was given a chance to join the group. I started working very hard. My bond with my violin grew stronger and stronger. Our bond isn’t the only thing that grew. My violin is also a reminder of all the people that helped me get so much better at so many things. Mostly my violin teacher. She made lessons so much fun. My violin is important to me because it connects me to West Virginia. I like to think of West Virginia as my home still, because that is where I lived for the first 8 years of my life. That is where my best friend, my cousin, lives and that is the same place where I started playing the violin. My violin really helps me bond with my cousin. She plays piano and I play violin, so we would create our own song and a show. For me it was more than just hosting a show. It was a time where we all came together and just have some family time.
