Japanese Doll
My artifact is a doll from Japan. In Japan, this doll is known as a ningyo in Japanese. This artifact has been passed down from generation to generation. This Japanese doll used to belong to my great-grandmother from Japan. She has passed it down to my Japanese grandmother to my dad to give it to my mom.Sometimes when I am stressed I meditate with it to calm me down. It has been in our family for many years. It helps me reflect on myself, my family and my culture. This doll is designed with fabrics that people in Japan wear to rituals. These are called kymotos. Japanese dolls are woven into Japanese culture and in Japanese history in many different ways. The colors of my doll are red gold and black. Many shades in red are used as symbols and makeup. On my doll’s dress the flowers are gold. If you like the color gold then you likely have a charming personality and exude confidence and magnetism. You are also friendly but egotistic, passionate yet anxious, selective but can also be discriminating. The color black in Japan means strength and wisdom. The color black also means age and power. The next time you see a doll think about the story it could tell.
