Janamaz
My object is a Janamaz (Ja-na-maz, can also be called a praying mat). It’s from Bangladesh. It’s very valuable in Bangladesh. Muslim people in Bangladesh use it for praying. My object is important to my culture because we Muslims have to pray 5 time a day, so we use it a lot, often for praying. My object is special to me because my grandpa brought the Janamaz from Bangladesh. He brought it with him in 2011. It teaches me about how Muslims will still pray even if they don’t have a clean space to pray, so they pray on the Janamaz. Not a lot of people in Bangladesh have a Janamaz. It’s not expensive in America but in Bangladesh, It’s expensive. It cost 8 to 10 dollars in America. In Bangladesh it cost about 690 dollars. It’s cheap in America because 1 dollar in America is equal to 77 dollar in Bangladesh. My object is made out of fabric. The color of my object is green. The size of my Janamaz is about 4 ft by 6 ft. Muslim people use it so they don’t get dirty and be clean while they pray to show respect to god. That’s important in Muslim culture. If you ever go to a Muslim fair, you can see a Janamaz in some of the stands.
