My Guatemalan Tapestry
My object is a tapestry from Guatemala. It was always in my dining room and my family uses it to hold tortillas. I thought it was just a common household item, not anything important.  After this essay I learned what it really was, a tapestry given to my father by his cousin and it shows a woman in traditional Guatemalan clothing.  You can use it as a decoration or a ‘manta para Tortillas’ (tortilla holder). It was made by getting wool and then weaving it. It keeps tortillas warm because the strings are woven closely together so it stores heat. This has changed me because at first I thought it was just a regular item but now I know more about Guatemala and its culture, food and clothing.
