Flag from Trinidad
The Trinidad flag, Elizabeth Beharry My object is the Trinidadian flag. My mom gave me the Trinidad flag because that was the only object my mom had with her that was connected to her country. My mom could not carry much stuff to America. One day, at home, my mom gave me the flag. She told me about some stuff about the Trinidadian flag. This object is used during carnival time. Trinidad is home for the Carnival. I go to carnival because it is a part of my culture. The Trinidadian flag is made in factories. This object is important because the Trinidadian flag represents my country. The Trinidadian flag has red, white, and black colors. The Trinidadian flag was created on August 31, 1962. It was designed by Carlisle Chang. The color black on the flag represents dedication of the people joined together by one strong bond. It is the color of strength, of unity of purpose, and of the land. Red is the color most expressive of my country. It represents the vitality of the land and its people, it is the warmth and energy of the sun, the courage and friendliness of the people. White is the sea by which these lands are bound, the cradle of our heritage, the purity of our aspirations and the equality of and women under the sun. I view my flag differently now than before. Before I never paid much attention to it. I did not even know that the flag was there. But now this immigration study helped me realize how important my object is to me and my family.
