Book of Stamps
My object is a Korean Stamp Book. It might not look like much on the outside, a black book with a gold trim; but the inside is a different story. This stamp book is actually a book from the 1988 Korean Olympics, with colorful pictures and stamps for each event of the Olympics. This is a very treasured book to me, and here’s why. America in the 20th century was known as a Melting Pot. Millions of people, with thousands of different races and backgrounds, went to America with many different reasons; but most never saw their family again. Now, we have safe transportation; but it is still hard from some families to have frequent reunions. My family is in this situation because my ancestors are originated from South Korea. Going there takes a lot of time; so we’re only there occasionally. Yes, I am an American citizen, and I’m proud to be here; but sometimes I can’t help but just miss my other family. I treasure things that are from Korea, and one of the most precious is my stamp book; which represents me, the country I descended from, and my family. Sure, it’s unique and beautiful. but the real reason why this book is important is because of it reminds me Korea. This book was actually passed down from my grandparents, who love the Olympics. My object makes me connect to Korea and my family, and teaches me how much family is worth; because whenever I miss S. Korea, I look at this book, and I think of all the happy experiences I have in my whole life.
